    New Patches Arrive

    Call of Duty: Black Ops updates.

    A new patch has arrived on the Playstation 3 and PC. A patch for the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii is also in progress.

    Treyarch are continuously working daily to fix any problems that may be ruining the Call of Duty: Black Ops experience for players and this is evident from the number of patches and hot fixes that have been released thus far.

    A new patch has now arrived and we have all the details for you below, including what is currently live and what is in progress.
    PS3 Updates (topic »):
    LIVE FIXES

    1/25/11 (Patch 1.06)

    New Features:
    * New contracts added to the rotation.
    * Added optional pre-match timer for LAN / System-Link games.

    Issues Addressed:
    * Fixed freeze associated with larger games.
    * Improved reliability of players connections to one another.
    * Improved ability to bring parties to the game lobby. Late party joiners would try to connect to previous lobby host and be denied if new joiners trigger a lobby host migration.
    * Addressed an issue where the Host encounters and infinite spinning loading circle after a Host migration.
    * Fixed a timing specific, long/infinite loading screen when joining games (sometimes giving you “Error - Read error (0x80010713) on file ").
    * Fixed a timing-specific freeze when host powered down during host migration.
    * Cleaned up the map search filter in the Community section (deleted unused entries).
    * Fixed Combat Training’s "USE FRIENDS" option for bots names.
    * Fixed issue with split-screen guest profile names being blank, resulting in matches never launching.
    * Instead of showing the generic “Player” for offline profiles in LAN, we now display the PS3 profile name.
    * Fixed Friends list appearing after viewing a Friends Playercard from the Leaderboards.
    * Fixed filter so players can now view Friends on Zombies leadboards.
    * Fix timing specific issue where the game can be put into slow motion.
    * Addressed "disconnected path" error when using the doors in Radiation after a host migration.
    * Fixed stability issues navigating lobbies after client on Split Screen Zombies quits out of a game.
    * Addressed issue/exploit when removing Counter Spy Plane effects with the Jammer.
    * Fixed a freeze when quickly loading maps one after another in private match.
    * Fixed issue where players get primary weapons in Second Chance.
    * Fixed “NEW” stamp not disappearing for Custom Slot 9 when highlighting the slot.
    * Removed water vision effect when respawning after dying in the acid pool in Radiation.
    * Several contract fixes.

    Gameplay Tuning:
    * Second Chance – players that put an enemy into Second Chance are now credited for a full kill once that enemy dies. If another player kills the enemy while the enemy is in Second Chance, they will get assist credit.
    * Adjustments to the PSG1 with attachments.
    * AK74U adjustments.
    * RCXD adjustments.
    * Silenced sniper rifle adjustments.
    * Removed hit markers when shooting friendly equipment.

    PC Updates (topic »):
    LIVE FIXES

    1/20/11
    PC Patch 1.05

    * MP Audio stuttering on certain systems.
    * Playercards sometimes not showing properly.
    * Added three Private Match Server Settings: Team Change, Team-Up Period, and Keep Balanced Teams.
    * Added Alternate Color Scheme for accessibility: Settings / Multiplayer / Player Name Indicator.
    * Changed Team-Up Period countdown interval to 10 seconds.
    * Combat Training sessions are no longer counted in Server Browser Unranked tab.
    * Friends on your team will now show as blue on your minimap.
    * Prevention of various exploits.
    * Objective markers localized for all languages.
    * Various stability improvements

    IN PROGRESS

    (Last Updated 1/20/11)

    * SP Audio stuttering on certain systems.
    * Addition of new contracts.
    * Addition of the “Dolly Cam” editing mode in Theater.
    * If a player cancels an invite to a Wager Match, then attempts to join another server, they will join the server from the declined invite.
    * Issue where the incorrect perks would appear when spectating another player under certain conditions.
    * Addition of round start explosive delay to China Lake grenade launcher to give it the same “spawn toob” protection as other explosives.
    * Ensure reticle purchases are reset on prestige in all circumstances.
    * Contracts should reset on prestige.
    * Prevention of Valkyrie rocket exploding upon release under rare conditions.
    * Prevention of Gunship and Chopper Gunner failing to give player full control under rare conditions.
    * Prevention of an issue where a player will get teleported outside the map boundaries under very specific conditions.
    * Limit the ability to re-roll supply drops using Hardline Pro to Care Packages only, no other killstreak drops.
    * Increased headshot multipliers for sniper rifles. Sniper rifles with suppressors equipped will now always be ensured one-shot kill headshots.
    * Added a render delay to the red diamond player indicators that appear when controlling the Gunship, Valkyrie Rocket and Chopper Gunner. When a player first spawns, this will not appear for a period of time.
    * Additional minor reductions in knife lunge.

    Wii Updates (topic »):
    IN PROGRESS

    * Explosives are not visible through walls when using Hacker perk.
    * Ninja perk is ineffective at times.
    * Additional sound mix tuning for Ninja Pro users - increased ranges and volume of enemy footsteps, and removed player footstep sounds
    on concrete material types.
    * Increased headshot multipliers for sniper rifles. Sniper rifles with suppressors equipped will be ensured one-shot kill headshots.
    * Added a negative influencer to all spawn points to decrease the chances of spawning near an enemy. This will further improve spawning
    protection on top of previous updates.
    * Previous Map Spamming – players are currently able to vote for the previously played map an unlimited number of times
    * Incorrect Prestige Emblems appearing at certain levels
    * Sending out text messages to massive groups can cause the game to freeze
    * Demolition – getting a loss registered despite earning a win
    * Some players experiencing crashes when viewing leaderboards with a high number of Allies
    * Stuck in spawn spot in Cracked
    * Voice Chat breaks up at times
    * More reported cases of "unbound" controls
    * Second Chance "invincible glitch"
    * Several fixes that should improve performance/lag for host and client
    * Shorter spawn-in (black screen) times in MP matches
    * Zombie Legs - create-a-crawler

    The Xbox 360 patch is currently in Microsoft's hands and is awaiting approval, so expect it before or when the first Map Pack releases a week today. Although there's no detailed information of what will be in the Xbox 360 patch, expect it to be pretty similar to the Playstation 3's updates.

    It's just a week until the new battlegrounds arrive first for Xbox 360 owners! With four new multiplayer maps and one new Zombie adventure, First Strike is sure to freshen things up. We've added some new screenshots to our Facebook page here » and yes, it includes a look at the Zombie map titled Ascension!

    Treyarch Community Manager Josh Olin tweeted » yesterday that today would be a busy day and that we should "strap [y]ourselves in". What exactly does this mean? Who knows, but a Zombie trailer would certainly blow us away!
